Imphal, December 13, 2011:
The proscribed UG group UNLF in a press statement urged the people of the state not to fall prey to the propaganda of the Indian security forces and not to believe in their allegations against recruiters of the ongoing freedom movement.
While reminding the people about the nature of the Indian security forces who killed scores of innocent people in cold blood, the statement appealed to the people not to react against the recruiters who guide those youth of the state who want to join the freedom movement.
The statement also lamented the unwise nature of the people of the state who are easily lured by promises of lucrative jobs and free education thereby falling easy prey to human traffickers.
Unfortunately, the rate of human trafficking in the state has been increasing in the past years with news of Manipuri girls or children being rescued from various centres in other parts of India coming in every now and then, it added.
On the other hand, the Assam Rifles has been hunting recruiters of revolutionary cadre and alleging them to be human traffickers.
What is saddening for UNLF is the reaction of the people of the state who easily believe the allegations of the Assam Rifles who have killed many innocent people without any mercy.
People are vandalising and ransacking houses and properties of such persons without knowing the truth behind the false allegation of the Indian security forces, it stated.
Such persons do not recruit cadres against their will.
In fact, they only guide those persons who voluntarily come out and show them the right way to join the freedom movement, it added.
The statement further stated that their properties and throwing them out of the locality on the false allegations of the Indian security forces is akin to challenging one's destiny and appealed to the public not to repeat such acts in future.
