During the meeting, the congregation appreciated the state government's proposal of handing over the case to NIA.
AMKIL president Nganbi, who attended the meeting, stated that the decision to claim Nonganba's body was taken following assurances from the state government to hand over the case to NIA.
She recounted that various agitations were staged seeking the truth in Nonganba's murder case.
Accused Th Soniya is the prime suspect for she was the one who lured out Nonganba from his house.
In addition, the involvement of NSCN-IM in the case has been ascertained.
Since the CM has assured of handing over the case to NIA, the involvement of Th Soniya in the murder case should also be investigated.
Nganbi then cautioned that although the lifeless body is being claimed, more intense agitations could be launched if the government fails to live up to its assurances of revealing the truth in the case.
JAC convenor Ashalata informed that Nonganba's body will be claimed from RIMS morgue on March 26 around 10 am.
She then appealed to the women leaders and general public to attend the final rites of the deceased.
Mention may be made here that the JAC, family members and representatives of various Meira Paibi bodies had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on March 11 demanding that no bail be granted to accused Soniya Thokchom and Moses Gon-mei, who are currently in judicial custody; hand over the case to NIA or CBI; and, declare another accused, Stephen Dangmei, who is currently absconding, wanted along with a cash reward to anyone who would provide information that could lead to his arrest.
