VDF association warns to launch 48 hrs general strike

Imphal, July 21 2018:
All Manipur VDF Welfare Association organised a General Body meeting deliberating its demands at Changangei Community Hall today.
Reiterating out that the monthly salary of VDF is not appropriate, president of the association L Deban Singh stated that the association has been demanding to increase the salary to 75 percent of the salary of a police constable.
Following the inaction of the State Government, VDF personnel have decided to seize work from July 11 onwards and despite repeated appeal; the Govt has not given any response till day.
The cease work strike will continue till July 25, he said while adding that the association will resort to 48 hours general strike if the Government continues to brush aside the demands of the association.
Around 10,050 VDF personnel from 16 districts have been taking part in the protest and making the same demand.
The association has further resolved to block NHs (37,39, Moreh) if the State Government fails to give any response during the general strike.
After the meeting, the VDF personnel formed human chain along Imphal Airport road and raised several slogans.
