Rape and murder of State girl flayed

Imphal, February 19 2013:
A 13-year-old girl who was raped and murdered in Nagaland's Dimapur district yesterday has turned out to be from Manipur.
The victim, a standard IV student has been identified as Kor Raja Priti, daughter of KR Jamthoi Chiru, a resident of Waithou Chiru in Thoubal district.
Imphal based local newspapers on Tuesday reported that the autopsy had confirmed she was raped and murdered.
Her body was found near Dimapur Panchayat Hall around 8 am yesterday after she had gone missing since around 5 am the same day, according to her family.
Family sources said she had been staying with one of her aunts named Chongrengthen in Dimapur town where she was studying in standard IV in Woodliz School, Firing Range.
As per the autopsy report, the girl was raped and hacked to death with a blunt weapon.
Meanwhile, various social organisations of the State including United Committee Manipur (UCM), United People's Front (UPF), National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO), Komrem Union and Chiru Students' Union have strongly condemned the rape and murder case of Priti and demanded action be taken up against all those involved in the incident.
