Team to meet Japanese envoy

An official team of Japanese Hospital Manipur is leaving for New Delhi tomorrow to meet with the Japanese Ambassador and urge him to bring the matter of construction of a hospital in Manipur with assistance from the Japan government to the level of Japanese Prime Minister.
TM Rajen Ayangba, president of the trust sponsoring the hospital, said that the team will press for fixing a date for laying the foundation stone for the hospital.
The trust had donated land at Lousi Loukon of Khabeisoi in Imphal east district for the construction of the proposed Japanese Second World War memorial hospital to be funded by the Japanese government.
The Japanese government is to fund the hospital under its Grand Grass Root Project with a estimate cost of ' 6 crore.
Out of the 40 acre land required for the construction of the hospital, one acre has been acquired by the hospital construction authority.
Earlier, the hospital was planned to be constructed at Yaingangpokpi but as per guidelines the hospital could not be located beyond a 10 km radius of the state capital.
Following a review it was decided that the hospital be constructed at Khabeisoi.
The proposed hospital is targeted to deliver a unique healthcare service to the people of the state and once the hospital comes up, inconveniences faced by the people in going outside the state for medical treatment will be reduced.
Doctors of the proposed hospital will work in coordination with doctors in Japan while treating complicated patients, according to the official of the trust.
