Create 'Loktak District': MLA Sharatchandra

In a press meet organized by BJP Moirang Mandal at Modi Bhavan Office, MLA Moirang AC and Chief Whip of Govt P Sharatchandra Singh appealed the authority concerned for the possibility to create a new district known as Loktak District with its head quarter at Moirang by dividing Bishnupur district into before December for administrative convenience and benefit of the public.
He continued that the demands for the creation of Loktak district comprising Moirang, Thanga and Kumbi Kendra has been on the list since 1980.Even the first Chief Minister of Manipur M Koireng has also demanded for the creation of such Loktak District, he added.
For the last 35 years, many previous and subsequent Govt kept on ignoring such demands while the erstwhile Government did not even consider it while forming 7 new districts in 2016, he said while adding that the 7 new districts were created without even considering the condition of the roads, availability of electricity, basic infrastructure, business and market opportunities.
He questioned the conduct of the then Govt the reason for ignoring the legitimate demands for Loktak district.
He also expressed hope that their legitimate demands will be heard by the present BJP led Govt and BJP Moirang Mandal is taking forward the demands while the BJP Govt is at the helm of power.
Formation of new Loktak district with its headquarter at Moirang will solve many untold miseries face by many villagers residing in the interior part of Bishnupur district, he said while adding that they do not have to travel the present headquarter at Bishnupur for any official works.
He also highlighted the advantage of creating such new district which will contribute immensly for the growth of tourism in Manipur thereby elevating the State economy and overall development of Manipur.
He also expressed his firm believed that the present BJP led Govt will carve out a new district comprising Moirang, Thanga and Kumbi AC and Moirang as its headquarter by December and sought the attention of the CM regarding the demand.
