Woman dies in surgery

Imphal, April 13 2011:
A 37-year-old woman died today during surgery at Chambers of Commerce hospital, Thangal Keithel.
An irate family members of the victim woman rose up against hospital authority but it was calm down after reaching to an agreement.
The deceased woman was identified as Asem Robita wife of Asem Gulamjat of Khekman Awang Leikai, Thoubal district.
Robita is survived by her husband who is a policeman in Police Department and their two sons and one daughter.
According to the family members , Robita was admitted to the hospital on April 10 last with acute abdomen pain.
Dr A Jitendra performed the surgery on the next day as it was a pile case at the right kidney.
After the operation, Robita health condition was worsened as she was unable to pass urine, swelling face and allergic reaction.
Yellowish colour appeared in her eyes.
As the condition worsens, doctors referred Robita to Shija Hospital where she died later.
Family members expressed their suspicion of chloroform overdose in the operation at Chamber Hospital.
Blaming the doctors and officials of Chamber hospital for their negligence in the treatment and service , family members of the deceased stormed the hospital.
However, it was pacified by the hospital authority after a long negotiation.
