Basic course in news reporting begins

A 7-day basic course in news reporting for Churachandpur district was inaugurated by Director (IPR) Meghachandra Kongbam today at Lamka Press Club (MHJU), HQ Veng, Churachandpur.
Speaking at the occasion, IPR Director said that role of media is important in today's communicative world.
As such, latest information on the developmental works taken up by the Government should be made available to the general public particularly those residing in rural and hill areas.
"Youth are participating in this basic course in news reporting should play a vital role in rendering services to the masses," he added.
Manipur Hills Journalist Union president Sothing Shimray appreciated the IPR Department for organising such course in the hill districts of Manipur.
Course co-ordinator of State Institute of Journalism, DIPR Chongtham Noyon Singh also highlighted the aims and objectives of the State Institute of Journalism, which was established on October 19, 1992 .
Altogether, 26 youths are participating in the course which will conclude on June 19 .
