Works Minister Thongam Bishwajit assured to black top and repair the entire road stretch from Herbert School, Ghari, upto the connecting point of Airport road under the "Road for All" mission .
He made the assurance while speaking as the chief guest at the 18th Foundation Day Celebration of Herbert School, Imphal held today at its premises.
Stating that the Government gives great emphasis on the surface road development in the State in view of the inconveniences given to the development of the State by improper road connectivity, the Minister conveyed that the initiative to black carpet the stretch is part of the "Road for All" mission.
He further said that all the National Highways in Manipur will be repaired with the objective of keeping all the roads in the State in good condition and claimed that Imphal-Jiribam highway has improve a lot .
The National party leaders are also emphasizing on developing the highways in the State and hence sanctions have been made in this regard, Bishwajit asserted, while maintaining that the road repairing works have been slowed down due to the repeated floods and adequate rainfall which occurred this year .
Stressing on the importance of education in the society, he observed that finding ways and means to bring quality education in the State is more important than emphasizing on quantity in education .
He said a nation or as society cannot be properly developed without education and claimed that there are abundant resources of varied forms, in the State, including human resource .
Bishwajit also urged the students to strive hard with patience and asked them not to give up on anything due to feelings of negativity .
He also advised the students to think positively stating that positive thinking will create positive outcomes and negative mindset will lead only to negativity .
While stating that there is nothing which cannot be achieved in life until human minds continue to pursue, Bishwajit said that there is no way to discard or reject someone if he/she is well fitted and qualified while applying for a Government job.
He claimed that a new refined system is being installed with the advent of the new Government while asking all to refrain from resorting to bribes and corruption for jobs .
Lamenting that Manipur cannot set a firm foothold in the industrial aspect despite having huge resources; he observed that the lack of exploration of the resources in the State is to be blamed .
He informed that North East Business Summit will be organized in the State as one of the biggest Summit in the State as well as in other parts of the country and disclosed that many big and prominent companies and their ambassadors from abroad the State and Country have been invited to explore the potential and resources of Manipur .
The State will tie up with the companies and utilize the resources with the ambition to provide job opportunity to the people of the State as well as to enhance the economy, he added .
Reminding that he attended an interaction programme called "Make in India" in Sweden recently, he informed that the representatives were very impressed when he told them about Manipur .
He went on to inform that a Swedish company had already come in the State and also confided that the company is ready to sign some agreements in connection with some projects in some sectors.
He exuded confidence that the initiative will boost the economy and create employment for many people in the State .
Noting that there is no development in the State due to desynchronizing of people in the State, the Minister said that all efforts are being made by the Government to bring the relation between the hills and valley closer .
He said that talks with several sections of the hill people are being carried out to eliminate the mistrust prevailing between hills and valley people and sought cooperation from all sections of the society.
In this way the Government is trying to regain unity in the State and maintain peace in the State and if there is unity there will be peace and development in the State, he observed.
Asserting that teachers occupy a significant position in the Society, he asked the students to maintain cordial and good relationship with teachers.
The Minister also lauded the performance of Herbert school while appreciating the initiative of the school principal for adding vocational courses in the future under certain related mission of the Government .
The function presided by Dr K Nabachandra Singh was also attended by Professor N Rajmuhon Singh, Department of chemistry, Manipur University and L Mahendra Singh, Chairman, Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur as the guests of honour .
They highlighted the importance of hard work, patience and other needful values in education and life by recounting the stories of great men and women in their speech.
Distributing awards and prizes to the meritorious students and teachers also marked the main events at the function.
