Condemning the conduct of arresting of one Y Rishikanta who runs a shop at Singjamei Super Market by Police Commandos without any valid reason, members of Singjamei Super Market Shopkeepers' Association today staged a Wakat Meepham at the super market today.
According to Rishikanta who also participated in the protest demonstration, at around 12.30 pm yesterday, an unknown woman had come looking for him and requested for keeping something in his shop.
When he declined the request by telling her that he has to go out, the woman telephoned to somebody on her mobile phone and later gave it to him to talk.
Even after that he turned down the request of leaving behind something in his shop.
At that relevant time, some Police Commandos suddenly rushed in to his shop and interrogated him before being taken to Porompat Police Station.
When Rishikanta climbed into the Gypsy of the Commandos, the unknown woman also followed suit and went together till the police station.
Though the family members took out Rishikanta out from the police custody, their request for having an audience with the unknown woman had been turned down , Rishikanta said.
Placards inscribed with slogans decrying the conduct of the police commandos were used during the demonstration.
