Blshnupur, February 24 2018: A fitness centre with Sports Science Backup was inauguratedat Nambol L Sanoi College today under the Sports Infrastructure and Equipment Grants of UGC.

Professor Adya Prasad Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University graced the inaugural ceremony as chief guest while Dr LP Baskota, Principal, Nambol L Sanoi College attended the event as president and Dr O Lukhoi Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology & Convenor, Construction Committee, Nambol L Sanoi College as convenor respectively.

"For a healthy mind, a healthy body is a must.

We are living in this competitive age.

Being healthy and fit is not a trend, it's a lifestyle.

We all must adopt this with utmost priority in all stages of life.

Be it at home, school or college," Professor Pandey said in his chief guest's speech.

Congratulating the College Principal and the faculty members for taking such an initiative for the welfare of the students, he motivated all to utilize the UGC funds for a good cause and in an appropriate manner while asserting that the Government is keen in taking up several developmental works for the State as well as for the North East region, he added.

"The President also devotes to educational institutions to give training to young innovative minds," he stated.

Cautioning on the appointment of non-skilled teachers in colleges, he asserted that the result will only destroy the academic atmosphere of colleges and students as well.

He invited all children and women to participate in the upcoming 105th Indian Science Congress at the Manipur University which will be held from March 16 to 20.Dr Th Ratankumar Singh, Director, Collage Development Council (CDC), MU, asserted that UGC has been extending generous financial assistance for development of infrastructures while adding that UGC is very meticulous in sanctioning financial assistance but kind enough to sanction any assistance if the proposals are justifiable.
