Army recovers stolen cements

Imphal, May 07 2011:
Troops of 10 Assam Rifles under Logtak Brigade of Red Shield Division recovered 81 bags of cement which were stolen on yesterday from two trucks, part of the civil convoy carrying essential commodities from Jiribam to Imphal.
The team of 10 Assam Rifles recovered 31 bags of cement, lying unattended near Sheron English School, Nonei Bazaar.
While another 50 bags were found in Nonei Basaar.
Two individuals involved in shifting the cement bags were also apprehended by the team.
They have been identified as Alan Rongmei (45) son of late Kanindaipoum of Rongkhong-I and Namdimliu (35) wife of Arei Maringmei of Mukti Village.
On May 6, at about 9.30 am when the trucks halted at Nonei Bazaar for repairing the punctured tyre, an unidentified individual approached the drivers for verification of challan.
On producing the challan, the individual snatched the challans and called both the drivers to a small restaurant owned by Kaiphei Ijai Kemai.
Meanwhile, some unidentified individuals had unloaded 81 bags of cement from the two trucks and loaded the cement bags in Mahindra DI pick up truck and moved away.
The apprehended Alan Rongmei and Namdimliu along with 81 recovered bags of cement were handed over to Noney PS.
