Imphal, November 02 2019:
The Manipur Peoples' Party has demanded Union Home Minister Amit Shah to make good his assurance that the final solution to the Naga political issue will not be inked without consulting stakeholders and political parties of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
The party has also demanded the Centre to reveal the points/issues which were agreed upon in-principle, to the public, before the stakeholders are consulted, reasoning that failure to do so will lead to immense inconveniences later.
Speaking to media persons at MPP office at Polo- ground today, party president Oinam Jugindro said that an all political parties delegation led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh, went to Delhi and met Central leaders on October 30 .
The delegates also submitted a memorandum to the Central leaders.
During one such meeting, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the all political parties delegation that a final solution to the Naga peace talk will not be singed without consulting the stake holders and political paries of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
Demanding the Home Minister to make good on his promise, Oinam Jugindro cautioned against taking any decisions contrary to the assurance.
Jugindro then lauded the CSOs of the State explaining that it is because of their movements, contribution and pressure, that the all political parties delegation was able to meet the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and other leaders.
MPP has always stood for peace and harmony in the State and the region as well as for the integrity of Manipur.
Jugindro stressed on the importance of ensuring that stakeholders get sufficient time to discuss and analyse any of the resolutions which might affect the State and added that MPP supports COCOMI's demand to the State and Central Governments to disclose the details of the agreement to the public before November 4 .
On the other hand, the MPP president also expressed keen desire for setting up a Legislative Council in Manipur for the wellbeing and prosperity of all the ethnic communities residing in the State and also to protect the administrative setup.
