3 days seminar / panel discussion of Thangal tribe commenced at Ningthoupam

A 3 days seminar cum panel discussion of the Thangal tribe commenced at Ningthoupam under the theme "Connecting the past to the present".
The event is organised by the Thangal Union to study the critique of history, its literature and culture of the tribe.
The specific objectives of the seminar is to develop a better understanding of the Thangal history, culture and literature and to look into the past of the Thangal with academic rigour and to foster the discourse of inclusion which will facilitate understanding and unity, to prepare the main approaches and actions for further development of Thangal literature and language and to promote learning and research in Thangal history, culture and literature.

A host of panelists from the tribe will present their papers during the seminar that would continue till October 30 which include M Solomon, Principal Kendriya Vidhyalaya, Loktak on "What is history?" while Khangba Anth, former president, Thangal Union on "Origin and Migration of Thangal", "General Thangal and Charai Thangal", "Revitalization of Thangal language: Planning and strategies" .
RK Solomon, AI Kangpokpi District Council will present papers on "Origin and Migration of Thangal", Rev P Majulong, Pastor Mayangkhang on "General Thangal and Charai Thangal", RK Graceson, Pastor Makeng Cheijinba & Literature & Language Committee Member on "Thangal literature: Challenges and possibilities", Rev Phungshim Kadeikeimi, Pastor Ningthoupam and Thangal NT Translator on "Revitalization of Thangal language: Planning and strategies" and D Namba, YK Yangdeng, BK Shomba, RK Limba and YK Shangba will present on "Thangal folklore, folk traditions and folk practices".
Thangal Union executives, literature committee, seminar committee, youth & elders, researchers, leaders etc were also present at the seminar.
