Thoubal, October 18 2015:
The Social and Cultural Development Centre (SOCDEC), Wangjing today alleged some locals of Wangjing Bazar and SK Leikai of projecting wrong image of Wangjing in a local TV channel, reports our correspondent.
Due to recent severe floods, six RCC bridges constructed along Wangjing river have been damaged and are yet to be repaired.
Renovation work in flood affected Wangjing SK Leikai is also underway, said SOCDEC, Wangjing secretary Rojen Thongam.
However, due to disagreement in land widening process, the renovation work was put on halt.
Reaching out only to a handful of people who have provided false information and tarnished the image of Wangjing was unfortunate, Rojen said.
Allotted ration and kerosene are being distributed every month in Wangjing-Tentha Assembly Constituency.
Therefore, baseless comments made by the particular reporter who was covering the news was not called for, he added.
Speaking to reporters, Wangjing-Lamding Municipal Council Chairperson H Chaoba Devi stated that three toilets have been constructed at Wangjing Bazar.
A proper waste disposal site has also been provided where it is been cleaned up every morning.
However, an unused toilet which is to be reconstructed was targeted by the reporter in his news coverage by asking if Wangjing Bazar has only one toilet.
If the local TV channel does not clarify on the matter at the earliest, the channel will be boycotted in Wangjing area, H Chaoba Devi added.
