Protests staged against Jotin's murder

Imphal, June 16 2011:
Sit-in protests were staged at many places in and around Wangoi today to register a strong protest against the shooting dead of pharmacist Huidrom Jotin of Yumnam Huidrom on Tuesday night by two gunmen.
Protestors, while strongly condemning the act of the murder of Jotin said that it was an act of terrorists.
Murderers should at least consider what would happen to the lives of the children and the family of the victim before they acted.
Be humane, guns cannot bring any solution, they cried out.
They also pressed the state government to book the culprits involved in the murder and deliver justice to the victim's family.
Meanwhile, after an agreement was brought about, the dead body of Jotin has been taken back by the family and his last rites were performed today.
The JAC agreed to take back the dead body after the Chief Minister assured payment of ex-gratia of ' one lakh to the family of the deceased before the Shradha ceremony and to book the culprits at the earliest.
The CM reportedly assured the JAC that police has been instructed to take up all necessary steps to find out the culprits.
At the procession that carried the dead body of Jotin from RIMs morgue to Yumnam Huidrom, placards written with "whether UGs are to kill people on hire, we fed up with UGs, Don't make people escape goat, we don't want gun culture, etc.
