Imphal, February 13 2015 :
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has on Friday identified insurgency related problems as the main issue troubling Manipur.
Speaking during his reception at the state BJP office at Nityaipat Chuthek this evening, the minister stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a vision of accelerating the development in Northeast.
He informed that the Prime Minister had advised his council of ministers to visit the region at least once every two months.
Maintaining that there is no place for bloodshed in democracy, he appealed to the armed rebels in the state to abandon the path of violence.
The administration can no longer tolerate further bloodletting, he warned.

He stated that the past years have seen considerable development in the northeast and the purpose of sending Union ministers to the region on a regular basis is to raise the momentum of growth further.
He implicitly claimed that previous governments at the Centre had not thought about such measures for alleviation of underdevelopment in the region.
He further reminded that the previous BJP government at the Centre was responsible for setting up the Development of NorthEastern Region (DoNER) ministry and asserted that the present government wanted to take up those works that the previous Congress regime found itself incapable of accomplishing.
Rajnath Singh stated that the main agenda of his visit was to review the critical law and order situation in the state, maintaining that the Centre is very serious about bringing an improvement to the prevailing conditions.
Establishment of good governance is key for achieving this goal, he stated.
Union MoS Home Kiren Rijiju stated that Moreh will be the country's gateway to South East Asia and also the entire Northeastern region has a big stake in the Act East Policy.
Thus, all of us should be well aware of the development taking place and keep ourselves ready, he stated.
Earlier, Rajnath Singh arrived at Imphal International Airport on a special BSF aircraft this noon.
The ministerial team was airlifted to the border town of Moreh in an IAF chopper.
Rajnath Singh and his team immediately headed for the international border with Myanmar for inspection of the Integrated Check Post being constructed on the Indian side.
Talking to media persons, Rajnath Singh stated that he wanted to have a first-hand account of the problems being encountered by the general public and see how the Assam Rifles is handling the responsibility of safeguarding the border.
Describing the northeast as an important region for India, he maintained that India can achieve its goal of overall development only after the region is developed.
He announced that the process for establishment of two special battalions for surrendered militants from the Northeastern states has been completed.
However, the exact date when it will become functional has not been finalized yet, he added.
On his arrival at the ICP site, the Union Home Minister was welcomed by a team led by commerce and industry minister Govindas Konthoujam, MLA D Korungthang and top officials of the district administration and police.
Rajnath Singh also went to the Land Custom Sanction office and inspected the immigration office there.
He also met community leaders of Moreh at the IB Complex at 9-A Assam Rifles post and was presented a joint memorandum by the leaders.
