Imphal, November 02 2019:
Condemning the statement made by Chief Minister N Biren Singh regarding its demand to disclose the points of agreement reached between the Government of India, NSCN-IM and NNPGs before November 4, the COCOMI has accused Chief Minister N Biren of confusing and painting a wrong picture of the demands raised by the people of Manipur.
A statement issued by COCOMI today clarified that COCOMI and the people have no intention to dictate the Government and had instead set a specific date to reveal the details of the points agreed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) .
Instead of accusing the people and COCOMI of dictating the Government in a way which also seemed filled with grudge, the CM should try to fulfil the demands of the people.
COCOMI further clarified that it functions as per the wishes of the people and asserted that it will not back off from its announcement to hold agitation and protests until and unless the points of agreement are made public.
The body stated that the people also wish to know how the Chief Minister, who announced that he had no knowledge of the points agreed between GoI and NSCN (IM), can assure that the final agreement will not affect the State' s interest.
It also reminded the State Government that COCOMI and the people are agitating so that the State Government finds courage to pressure the Centre to do what is best for the people of Manipur.
