Man accuses M Tombi

An elected Ward member of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) has been hospitalised after Janata Dal (United) Manipur Unit president M Tombi allegedly thrashed him.
The man has been identified as Ward No 4 member Haorungbam Santosh (36) of Uripok Sorbol Thingel.
Speaking to reporters at his residence, Santosh alleged that M Tombi beat him up in an automobile woskshop located at Lamphel Sanakeithel at around 1.30 pm today.
He said that the owner of the workshop, Naoba has not completed repairing of a Maruti Gypsy, which had been given to him around one year back.
Moreover, a sub-woofer which he had taken from Santosh had not been returned till date.
As such, he went to the workshop to enquire about his vehicle and sub-woofer, Santosh said.
As Naoba was not there at the workshop, he asked his wife about his whereabouts.
However, Naoba returned at the workshop after some time and talked to Santosh about the vehicle and sub-woofer.
Santosh said that when he was talking with Naoba, M Tombi came there and beat him up suddenly.
He said that they not only took away his mobile phone and identity card but also recorded his voice and forcibly took his signature on a paper.
He said that Tombi is the father-in-law of Naoba.
Santosh said that he had reported the matter to Imphal police station.
