Remand for murder accused

Ajay Das, accused of killing his mother-in-law has been remanded to judicial custody till July 23 by the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today.
Ajay Das (35) of Phullarton, Silchar at present staying in a rented house at Nagamapal Phougeisangbam Leikai was produced in the Court after completion of 4 days police remand along with a prayer for judicial remand.
His father-in-law had lodged a police complaint that Ajay Das stabbed his wife (mother-in-law of Ajay) to death with a kitchen knife on July 5 night.
Ajay was arrested the same day by police.
Investigating Officer (IO) of the case through APP submitted in the Court that the accused, Ajay Das is a habitual drinker and he had returned home from work at around 8.30 pm after consuming liquor on the day of the incident.
A verbal argument between the accused and his mother-in-law regarding purchasing a TV remote control led him to allegedly beat his mother-in-law with a stool on the forehead.
He even tried to 'strangulate' her before allegedly stabbing her on the back with a kitchen knife.
The accused then 'threw' the knife behind the eastern wall of the rented house.
The accused has admitted that he along with others evacuated the victim (his mother-in-law) to RIMS casualty where she was declared brought dead, submitted the IO .
The Court on perusal of materials on record, remanded Ajay Das to judicial remand till July 23 .
