Imphal, March 06 2011:
All Manipur Students' Guardian Association (AMSGA) today expressed concern over conducting entrance tests for children under six years and below informing that some private schools are conducting such tests.
This not only violates the provisions of the Right to Education Act, and that private schools are breaking norms by forbidding children below 18 years to appear in competitive exams, H Kulla, advisor of the AMSGA told reporters in a press conference held at its office today.
H Kulla went on to say such acts are illegal and that the association has taken it seriously.
He drew the attention of the authority concerned of the state government to prevent conducting entrance tests.
AMSGA also demanded establishment of a subordinate service commission for the state government to conduct DPCs for recruitment in non-gazetted posts for the departments under the Manipur government.
This will solve inconveniences caused to the candidates.
Conducting recruitment DPCs by the authority of the department causes inconveniences as declaration of DPC results are usually delayed, the advisor said citing the instance of non-declaration of DPC results of the Home Department held in 2008 .
He observed that the DPC conducted by the Home Department for appointment of Havildars and CRTO in 2008 is yet to be declared.
He also reminded of the controversy in the DPC result declaration for the primary teachers in the Education Department.
Such controversies do not surface while conducting DPCs for appointment of gazetted posts because they are conducted by a commission, the MPSC.
So, it will be better for the government to establish a subordinate commission for conducting DPCs for the appointment of government jobs, Kulla suggested.
