One killed, two rescued

Imphal, July 28 2011:
One UG activist was reportedly killed while two others apprehended following a shoot out between a combined force of Assam Rifles and armed cadres of a KCP faction at Lamlong Khunou under Tengnoupal police station at around 2.30 pm today.
According to sources, apart from recovering two 9 mm pistols, 17 rounds of live ammunition and two magazines, the combined force of 15 Assam Rifles, 42 Assam Rifles and 27 Assam Rifles also managed to rescue two civilians who were being held captives by the UGs.
The identity of the slain UG has been established as Moirangthem Boby (24) s/o M Achou of Langathel while the two arrested UGs as Yengkhom Ratan (18) s/o Y Ibocha of Pallel Maning Leikai and Moirangthem Nanao (23) of Langathel.
Nanao is said to be a younger brother of the slain Boby.
The two civilians who were rescued from the clutch of the UGs have been identified as Parijat of Koijam under Kakching Police Station and Soibam Kesho (60) of Tekcham Mayai Leikai.
Kesho was hit by a bullet on his left ankle.
He is said to be the brother-in-law of Ibetombi, a member of Tekcham Zilla Parishad.
Both the civilians have been reportedly abducted by armed UGs from the house of Ibetombi last night.
