Naga woman scales Mt Everest

Informing that Major Dr Neikhrietuonuo Linyu of Nagaland has become the first Naga woman to scale the Mt Everest, L Tilotama, who is vice chairpersons of Board of Governors, Nehru Yuva kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports has conveyed congratulations on Dr Linyu becoming a member of the Exclusive Club of Everesters, a symbol of determination and hard work.
"Major Dr Linyu has exhibited the conquest of fear and demonstrated courage, physical and mental perseverance with the spirit of adventure," statement issued by Jackie Ruivah, Zonal Director (NYKS), Imphal quoted the vice chairperson as saying.
An alumnus of RIMS, Imphal Dr Linyu will remain a source of inspiration for the youths of the region, commented L Tilotama who also appreciated Dr Linyu for bringing laurel to not only her Nagaland State but the entire North East region.
Dr Linyu, said to be posted at Congo as a UN Peace Keeping Force, was a member of the 22-member Indian Army Mountaineering team, comprising of four lady officers, to have conquered the world's highest peak .
Meanwhile, L Tilotama visited the Lamdan complex of Manipur Mountaineering Institute where she inspected the ongoing infrastructure development works.
