Jan Andolan held at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, October 21 2020:
Jan Andolan, a people movement to fight against the pandemic COVID-19 and to adapt to the new normal through appropriate behavioural change was held today at three different locations of Ukhrul Town.
Addl Chief secretary MH Khan launched Jan Andolan at Ava Market Phungreitang, Ukhrul in the presence of SP, Ukhrul Worngam Ningshen, CMO Dr Kapangring, medical staff and Ukhrul police officers.
During the launching function, MH Khan urged the citizens of Ukhrul to SOPs for COVID until a vaccine is developed.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Jan Andolan on October 8 as a Nationwide campaign to cope with COVID crisis and to create awareness on its precautionary measures.
Khan also mentioned that he came to Ukhrul to assess the COVID-19 situation in both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
He informed also that Chief Minister M N Biren Singh will convene a high-level meeting tomorrow at Imphal to discuss COVID-19 related issues in the State.
Meanwhile, Worngam Ningshen said that every individual must partake in Jan Andolan to prevent COVID-19 spread as well as to avoid infection.
CMO, Ukhrul Dr Kapangring administered the public pledge of COVID-19 .
The CMO, before administering the pledge, deliberated on the main objectives of launching Jan Andolan across the country.
He said that October and November is a first phase for the campaign to promote and spread awareness on basic hygiene to help people adapt with the emerging new normal.
Dr Kapangring also urged all to give utmost care to aged persons, children and persons suffering from different ailments.
Meanwhile District Surveillance Officer (DSO), Ukhrul Dr Thotreichon highlighted the present status of COVID-19 cases in Ukhrul.
According to her , the cumulative figure of COVID cases in the district is 519 of which 469 persons have been recovered.
Meanwhile, a bevvy of girls performed a choreography holding placard written as wear face mask while going out, wash hands regularly and maintain physical distance as an awareness campaign.
The programme was organised by Ukhrul District Hospital.
