The International Human Rights Association (IHRA), Manipur has condemned the State Government for allegedly perpetrating an inhuman act upon the innocent people of Saikul area.
Mark Thangmang Haokip, president IHRA Manipur said that the association is extremely shocked to learn that police are hunting innocent villagers of Saikul area in Kangpokpi.
The matter came to light after girls hiding in the jungle released their weeping video on social media, he added.
Police are hunting for the individuals who are involved in damaging the Kuki Rising Monolith.
However, the atrocities committed by the police have enormously infringed Article 7, 9 & 10 (1) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Therefore, IHRA instructed the concerned police officer to stop such inhuman acts immediately, he further said.
The International Human Rights Association has also appealed to the Government of Manipur to cease the degrading treatment of the people of Saikul.
