Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) submits memo to Chief Secretary

The Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has apprised the Chief Secretary of the State of various grievances within and around Ukhrul district.
In a memorandum to the CS, the TKS general secretary, Mahirah Raihing sought the intervention of the CS regarding the 'incomplete' school building construction under MOBC/MSDP in Ukhrul district while stating that the pending of 60 percent of the construction cost is only victimising the students.
Pointing out lack of infrastructure, absence of library, shortage of teaching faculty in every department, shortage of equipments and college administrative functionaries at the one and only Government College of Ukhrul, Pettigrew College, the TKS memo urged the CS to address the grievances in the interest of the public and students' community of the district.
The TKS also stated the need to have college bus as the college is located in the outskirt of Ukhrul town.
Maintaining that the DIET centre at Hunpung, Ukhrul is dysfunctional, the Tangkhul students' body demanded that the centre be made effectively functional so that it serves its purpose.
The memo also urged for introduction of effective traffic system in Ukhrul district with the demand to made the Transport office functional.
