Imphal, May 11 2017:
Council of Higher Secondary Education , Manipur (COHSEM) Secretary Meisnam Bidyasagar has negated the news report published in some local dailies today that appointment of 39 people to various posts in the Council was done without issuing any official notification and advertisement.
Clearing the air over the news report during a press meet held at its office located at Babupara today, Bidyasagar clarified that High Court of Manipur in its order passed in 2015 had approved regularisation of the 39 contractual staff appointed in 2013 within a period of six months.
He claimed that COHSEM incurred more than Rs 10 lakh in making appeals against the Court ruling.
Saying that COHSEM which is run only by fees from students had also made an appeal in the Supreme Court, he clarified that the Council after having two rounds of meeting on December 16, 2016 unanimously decided to regularise the 39 contractual staff.
Commenting on the delay in holding Class XII examination this year, Bidysagar said that the examination scheduled was delayed on account of the election code of conduct for the 11th State Legislative Assembly election.
For this year, the examination was held from March 20 to April 21.As for 2016, the examination was held from February 22 to March 21.Although the examination for this year was deferred by a month, the Council is using bar coding technology, Optical Mark Recognition and OMR tabulation for evaluation of answer sheets, he said.
He regretted that certain allegations levelled against COHSEM came at a time when it is trying to declare results of the examination within one month by finishing evaluation of answer sheets as soon as possible.
Maintaining that COHSEM clearly knows the importance and value of Class XII examination, he informed that the Council has almost completed evaluation of answer sheets for all the subjects except for English and Alternative subjects.
The COHSEM Secretary claimed that there is not a single error committed in the ongoing evaluation of answer sheets.
He reminded that altogether 38 students were expelled by the Council for using unfair means in the examination.
