Film Forum Manipur protests monetary demand

Film producers, directors and several actors of Manipuri film industry, under the aegis of Film Forum Manipur (FFM) has today staged a sit-in-protest in front of Shankar Talkies, Lamphel against monetary demand served to the forum by factions of a militant outfit of the State.
Protestors held placards reading 'FFM has no strength to fight any UG group,' 'let Manipuri films survive,' 'don't target film community,' etc.
It may be recalled that all activities relating to film producing in Manipur was halted since last month due to monetary demand served to the forum by factions of KCP (MC).
"All activities relating to production of film, like shooting, editing, showing, were stopped since January 9 to register its stand monetary demand," Secretary of FFM, RK Chandrakumar said.
He added that the forum will suspend its stir and begin work as usual from tomorrow.
RK Chandrakumar further maintained that factions of outlawed KCP (MC) had communicated through phone that Rs 1 lakh each from every cinema hall be collected.
The forum will not be able to collect money from the cinema halls, he added.
He further appealed the UG groups to withdraw their demand so that the Manipuri films survive.
Film Director, Romi Meetei said that deceleration of film activities will be a loss for the people of the State.
