Imphal, February 19 2013:
The People's Action for Change (PAC) has flayed the Government's poor response to the alleged case of siphoning two months quota of TPDS items belonging to Senapati district.
Inspite of filing a complaint with the authority and published in media by the Senapati District Consumers Club (SDCC), the State Government has so far done nothing against the corrupt officials of CAF&PD Department, Senapati district who allegedly siphoned off TPDS quotas for the months of August and September, 2011 .
The PAC would be compelled to launch another form of agitation if the Government keeps deferring the matter and fails to book the culprits immediately.
In the event of any agitation, the State Government should be held responsible, said a press release issued by PAC president Ngaile Lemaina.
Reminding that the Senapati DC gave assurance to issue ration cards within September 2012 during a public hearing held at Imphal on July 11, 2012, the PAC decried that no ration card has been issued till date.
While the CAF&PD Department failed to invite deposits for the month of February 2012, money deposited by Senapati FPS agents for the month of April were returned to the agents.
The department has also been deducting the quantity of TPDS goods allocated to each village of the district after every month, it alleged while demanding immediate punitive action against the erring and corrupt officers.
It also appealed to all concerned citizens, intellectuals, students' bodies and civil society organisations to join hands in pressurising the Government to book the culprits at the earliest.
