CM meets with officials of Mobile service providers

With the operation of one mobile service provider remaining shut down after the killing of a caretaker as well as burning down a tower, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today evening met the officials of mobile service providers operating in the State to discuss the development.
According to a reliable source, Chief Secretary DS Poonia and DGP Y Joykumar were also present in the meeting during which the officials of the mobile service providers requested for putting in place necessary security measures.
To help the Government in ensuring security measures, the mobile service providers have also directed to submit the names of their respective caretakers and the sites where their linked towers are located to the police, the source said, adding that police patrol has been stepped up to prevent violent incidents of targeting mobile towers and the staff of mobile service provider companies.Mobile service providers in the State have been facing a number of threats from many armed groups over monetary demands.
Some time back Aircel too was badly hit when one of its security guards were shot dead by unidentified miscreants.
