Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Person and Disable Development Association, have blamed the inefficiency of the Social Welfare Department for the failure to provide necessary benefits to the disabled.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Person consultant RN Koireng said that the former Director of the Social Welfare Department, L Nabakishore issued a notification on September 26, 2016 for various schemes for disabled students, individuals, parents, guardians and for scholarship, financial assistance, unemployment allowances etc for the organisation but no selection list nor sanction order was issued even after the end of the financial year.

Koireng said that according to the details provided by the Treasury officer, the amount for scholarship is Rs 3,00,000, while that for financial assistance and unemployment allowance are Rs 9,96,000 and Rs 13,72,800 respectively adding that these funds have not been sanctioned for the year 2016-17 .
He claimed that lack of efficiency and initiative on the part of the Social Welfare Department is responsible for the failure to provide benefits to the disabled individuals and urged the State Government to take up necessary action against the said Department.
He further blamed the Deputy Director (Disability) Th Dilipkumar for negligence and urged the authority concerned not to appoint lethargic officials to such posts.
