Imphal, May 04, 2013:
Cutting across communal divide, a mass sit in protest was held today at Nongpok Keithelmanbi Bazar to register protest against the reported abduction of two persons by unidentified miscreants on April 29 from Nongpok Keithelmanbi.
Seitinlal Kipgen (52) of Bongbal Kholen under Saikul sub-division in Sadar Hills and Tongsat Haokip (37) of Masemjang village in Churachandpur district were reportedly kidnapped by unidentified persons from Nongpok Keithelmanbi on April 29 at around 9.30am, said out Thoubal correspondent.
A JAC was also formed today in connection with the abduction.
Seitinlal Kipgen is running a pharmacy at Nongpok Keithelmanbi bazar since the last 10 years while Tongsat Haokip came to Bongbal Kholen village for carpentry works.
Several attempts by family members of Seitinlal to contact him through his mobile phone proved futile.
A call by his daughter was snapped after the receiver bluntly asked who she was.
Since then the mobile has been kept in switch-off mode, family members said.
The sit-in protest today was attended by villagers and Church leaders of Leirongthel, Nongbrang, Keithelmanbi, Etham, Moirangpurel, Laikhong, Tumukhong, Bewlalane, Molkon, Keihao, Saichang, Chaningpokpi, L Molnom, Bongyang and Songphel villages.
