Manipur sees another new high of positive cases with 847
10 more deaths reported to take tally to 730, another two yet to be reported

Imphal, May 26 2021:
With 10 deaths, Manipur has yet again reported a record single day spike of 847 new Covid cases, 23 more than what was reported yesterday.
Imphal West continued to report the highest number of infections among the districts with 301 cases in the last 24 hours.
Significantly, the State has been breaking records in daily spikes since the last few days.
The 847 fresh cases were detected when testing a total of 4,075 samples.
This implies, 20.78 per cent of the total samples tested positive for COVID-19 .
The total number of Covid positive cases has reached 46,298 while the number of active cases is 7,243, according to Government COVID-19 Common Control Room.
So far, 3,55,793 persons have been vaccinated against Covid and 38,325 persons have recovered from the disease.
The recovery rate stands at 82.77 per cent.
With the 10 deaths reported today, the death toll according to the Covid control room has touched 730 .
Notably, this figure is excluding the deaths of the 7-year-old girl yesterday and a 40-year-old man from Ukhrul today, reported by our correspondent.
The man from Ukhrul tested positive for Covid after he died.
The COVID-19 Common Control Room of the Government which issues daily Covid updates is yet to report these two casualties.
Including these two cases, the death toll has reached 732 .
Meanwhile, the 10 deaths as reported by the Covid control room were all above the age of 50 years and belonged to Imphal East (4), Imphal West (4), Kangpokpi (1), Bishnupur (1).The victims from Imphal East were all men aged 55, 68, 72 and 80 years.
The victims from Imphal West include three women aged 50, 55 and 58 and a 69-year-old man.
The victims from Kangpokpi and Bishnupur were men aged 65 and 73 years.
On the other hand, the 847 Covid positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours include 22 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force and 825 persons (414 males and 411 females) from among the general population.
They (847) tested positive for Covid at testing facilities opened at private hospitals (337), district hospitals (336), JNIMS (164) and RIMS (10) .
The 825 persons from the general population hail from Imphal West (301), Senapati (147), Imphal East (146), Bishnupur (56), Kakching (50), Thoubal (37), Churachandpur (23), Tamenglong (21), Jiribam (14), Pherzawl (8), Kangpokpi (6), Ukhrul (5), Kamjong (4), Tengnoupal (4), Noney (2) and Chandel (1) .
Significantly of the 147 persons who tested positive at Senapati, 56 were from one single village, Lower Koide.
As per the Covid control room, as many as 379 persons recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.
While 303 of them recovered while under home isolation, the remaining have been discharged from Covid Care centres opened at Lamboikhongnangkhong (29), SHRI (20), RIMS (5), BB (4), CAPF (4), Babina Speciality Hospital (4), Thoubal (4), JNIMS (2), RD Wing (2), NSU (1) and Jivan Hospital (1) .
The cumulative number of Covid positive cases is 46,298 (general population - 42,549 and Central security personnel - 3,749) .
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 38,325 (general population - 34,689 and Central security personnel - 3,636) .
The number of active cases is 7,243 (general population - 7,135 and Central security personnel - 108) .
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,539 D-type oxygen cylinders and 542 B-type cylinders have been made available to different healthcare institutions.
