Ukhrul, November 18 2013:
Barely two days after the Deputy Commissionber assured to beef up security in Ukhrul, another powerful IED exploded today at Harkuikathe, Ukhrul along NH 202 leaving twelve, including a minor girl injured.
Eight of them are critically injured.
This is the 7th blast within a span of 2 months.
A bomb attack at the office of TNL was launched for the second time on Friday.
Today's blast took place around 2.55 pm when an Ashok Leyland truck (08E 71267) carrying around 50 BRTF labourers including women and children of 84 BRC was moving towards Ukhrul for marketing purpose.
Police and Assam Rifles personnel along with SDO of Ukhrul rushed to the spot just after the explosion.

All the injured persons were administered emergency medical aid at 84 BRC MI.
Most of them sustained injuries at the leg, knee, thigh and head.
Most of the injured victims are from Jharkhand and Assam.
Nandhan Ram, Raju Pardhan, Viru Kerkatha, Jokin Kerkatha, Doyal Barek suffered serious injuries while the limbs of the driver of the truck Pushanaik along with his minor daughter, Sonia (11) got fractured.
Peter Kindu, Arun, Gentle and Piyal sustained minor injuries.
The engine of the vehicle was completely damaged by the blast while the front part of the vehicle was mangled.
The blast caused a crater of around 2.5 feet diameter and a depth of around three feet.
Meanwhile, the President of Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong Y Kapai and Hunphun Katamnao Saklong President, HA Joyson speaking over the phone strongly condemned the act which they termed as cowardice.
Both the leaders appealed to all concerned to ensure peace in the district when most of the students are preparing to sit for their final exams.
A series of bomb explosions have rocked Ukhrul district headquarters in the recent past, this being the latest case.
