4 succumb to Covid, 159 more test positive

Manipur recorded 4 deaths due to Covid in the last 24 hours as 159 persons more tested positive for the virus taking the cumulative figure of positive cases in the State to 1,21,462.According to COVID-19 Common Control Room, 159 persons (77 male and 82 female), all from general population were confirmed Covid positive at RIMS (11), JNIMS (22) and other testing centres (126).In all, 2681 samples were tested taking the positivity rate to 6.2 percent.
The persons are from Imphal (42), Imphal West (82), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (12), Ukhrul (6), Churachandpur (9), Chandel (1), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (1), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (1) and due measures like containment and contact tracing have been initiated, it said.
Meanwhile, the number of death in the last 24 hour as reported by the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee is four taking the cumulative number of deaths to 1875.The deceased were from Imphal West (2), Thoubal (1) and Senapati (1) .
Of the total four, 3 persons had comorbidities while 2 of them had 1st dose of Covid vaccine, 2 were not vaccinated, it said.
The last 24 hour also saw 102 persons who were in home isolation (34) and admitted at RIMS (6), JNIMS (6), CCCs (55) and CHICs (1), being discharged after recovery.
With the addition of the new positive cases, the cumulative figure has reached 1,21,462 of which 1,17,162 are from the general population and 4,300 from Central security forces.
The cumulative number of recovered cases on the other hand is 1,17,810 (general population: 1,13,546 and Central security personnel: 4,264).The number of active cases is 1,777 (general population -1,746 and Central security personnel- 31) while the recovery rate is 96.99 percent, it said.
The COVID-19 Common Control Room further informed that a total of 802 D-type and 191 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur.
It also stated that the number of COVID-19 vaccines administered till October 5 is 8057.With it, the cumulative dose administered is 17,39,798 (1st dose: 12,28,110 and 2nd dose: 5,11,688), it added.
Meanwhile, beds available at different health care centres according to the COVID-19 Common Control Room are RIMS (general beds 197; ICU/HDU beds 24), JNIMS (general beds 38; ICU/HDU beds 12), CMC Koirengei (general beds 30; ICU/HDU beds 08), Iboyaima Hospital (general beds 25; ICU/HDU beds 5), Jivan Hospital (general beds 20; ICU/HDU beds 5), Shija Hospital (general beds 58; ICU/HDU beds 38) and Raj Medicity (general beds 74; ICU/HDU beds 22) .
