You want me to laugh with or weep
Jodha Chandra Sanasam *
The space around
beckoned me fervently ;
I asked the space:
you want me to laugh with or weep?
Anything you say is alright,
I could do both.
Michael Jackson danced and sang
breaking his bones, body parts
twisting his muscles and jibing at the joints
with beats in rhythm.
But he wept bitterly I knew
all the time inside his heart.
Just weeping was not enough
he took to drugs
and he could weep better;
that's why he took to drugs
and with that he wept it out better
to his fulfillment.
Does it make any difference
he and the hermits around the Himalayas
he and the Roman Vatican?
Yes, tablets are toxic and killing
worst of all it's enticing;
so also is cannabis or hashish
the favourite of hermits at the foot of the Himalayas.
Yes I will turn out
maybe nervous little bit like the crickets
that sing whole night gay and nonstop.
Do you want me to laugh together with
or weep together?
If you say let's laugh together
I may not be able to laugh
honest and genuine
but I'll partake for the general delight
I doubt myself though
shall I be able to brush away
the blemish of deceit
from my laughter.
If you say
let's weep together
yes, I'll weep, cry aloud
and sing sad songs as happy as a lark,
to fill my empty cup with tears to the brim
staking all what I have
and I'll be close to my fulfillment.
Laugh or weep any way
I'll be there; yes, I'll be there.
