Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is implementing the project ‘Economic Empowerment of Women Entrepreneurs and Start-ups by Women’ under the name of ‘Her&Now’, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and in partnership with the Indian Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MoSDE).The Project’s objective is to promote aspiring and existing women entrepreneurs in India and currently supports women entrepreneurs in Rajasthan, Telangana and Northeast Region.
Dhriiti- The Courage Within, has partnered with GIZ, to be its regional implementation agency in the Northeast Region and to lead the project implementation there.
Her&Now offers dedicated 7-months incubation and 6-months acceleration programmes to support women entrepreneurs. These programmes will offer capacity building sessions, one on one mentoring and customised support to equip the participating women entrepreneurs to build and grow their enterprises, achieve business milestones and realize their potential.
Post a round of selection interviews, the first cohort is expected to be launched early October with residential kickoff camps.
Over the next two years, Dhriiti would be providing incubation support to 130 women-led start-ups and acceleration support to 40 women-led enterprises in the region.
The programme is open to all women entrepreneurs operating in Northeast who are setting up or running their enterprises and driven to grow. The programme will be delivered through 4 nodal centres – Agartala, Imphal, Jorhat, Shillong.
To be a part of this exciting programme, interested entrepreneurs can log on to www.dhriiti.com and apply therein.
‘ We understand that the North East has traditionally been a region of strong women empowerment. A large number of traditional businesses here are run by women. However, there is a strong need to build an ecosystem that is conducive for women to not just run their businesses but to flourish. Through our project Her&Now, we are going to provide support for women entrepreneurs through our dedicated incubation and acceleration programme. There is a great potential for women entrepreneurs to tap into in North East and with our implementing partner Dhriiti, we are here to extend technical support and build an ecosystem where women entrepreneurs can really thrive’. - Julia Karst, GIZ
‘ Dhriiti has been working in the North East Region for the past 15 years. The one thing that strikes us the most is the active participation of women in economic activities. However, these women remain hidden in homes from where they operate. Our effort is to reach out to them, help them identify themselves as entrepreneurs and build their capacity to grow and prosper. Project Her&Now is an endeavour to create a conducive ecosystem for women entrepreneurs in the region.’ - Nidhi Gupta, Dhriiti
