The Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) has announced that Solar Viewer would be distributed free of cost to those who visit the Observatory Unit at GP Women's College on Venus Transit Day, ie June 6 between 4.27 am to 10.20 am.
A spot quiz program-me would also be conducted for participating students during the transit period. The rare phenomenon would be seen again only after 105 years, said a statement of MASTEC. It further added that a general awareness lecture programme would be conducted on June 4 at GP Women's College.
Meanwhile, the department of Physics, Manipur Univer-sity is also making preparation for observation of the transit of Venus on June 6. Interested student can participate by collecting pass from the department on subm-ission of two passport size photographs and photocopy of their ID cards on or before June 4, coordinator of SAP, Physics department, MU informed.

The Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC) would set up an Observatory Unit at GP Women's College on June 6 to provide the students and the general public with an opportunity to witness the Transit of Venus across the disk of the Sun, a very rare planetary event.
According to a statement of MASTEC the event would start from 4.27 am and continue till 10.20 am.
The Council has further informed that those interested in viewing the event from home can collect solar viewer at Rs 50 each from the office of the Director Th Surendranath Singh.
