TODAY -
Without you
Soibam Haripriya *
I joined the melancholic millions today -
Walking down the bottomless evening,
Colourless people in colourless clothes
Dabbled brown with life's hue.
The evening closes in - on the lifeless trees jutting out from the sewage
Dirt poisoning its veins slowly and surely
Dry branches outstretch to its fate
I watch the sun go down behind the sewage lake
Utter blackness covering the muck.
I dusted my yellow tears stained pillows
Shut the window against the lonesome sight.
I wait for the day the rains would visit - house by house
Cleanse the coating of dirt and dead;
Mingle with the earthy aroma
While evening drip down our shared umbrella.
