UNC stir burns holes in people’s pockets

Manipuris are paying the price of an economic blockade imposed by the United Naga Council (UNC) cutting off the roads leading to the Imphal Valley. Prices of essentials have shot up and the state government has begun fuel rationing at selected outlets on a daily basis.
The state government is likely to send a contingent of police and para-military forces to Nagaland and Jiribam to bring back the stranded trucks and oil tankers.
