UNC responds to NPCC’s calculation
Morung Express | Dimapur, March 10 (MExN):
The United Naga Council of Manipur (UNC) today said that the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee’s (NPCC) statement on the Manipur assembly election results is a rude shock to the “Nagas in Manipur.”
The UNC said it opposed the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) because of the suppression of the Nagas and tribal in Manipur and ‘denial of their democratic rights and objection to the aspiration of the Nagas to live together by the Government of Manipur spearheaded by the MPCC.’
"The pro active role played by the UNC in the 10th Manipur assembly election was to democratically garner a common voice for the people. But the level to which the people have been reduced to helplessness is indicated by the manner in which our people were prevented from exercising their franchise through the use of money power and manipulation of the system and state machinery by the adversaries,” the UNC said.
