Seven Sisters Post | Aizawl (July 5):
Two Myanmarese soldiers, who strayed into Indian territory and intimidated farmers in Champhai district in eastern Mizoram, were arrested on Thursday, Champhai police said on Thursday. Personnel of the Assam Rifles who are guarding the 404-kilometre porous border arrested Myint Naing, 34, and Zaw U, 35, of the Myanmar Army, at the instructions of Champhai DC.
The incident comes at a time when Indian police and Myanmar police are working for better relations in tackling trading of illegal arms and ammunitions and drug smuggling across the border.
