Shrimati Thoudam Ongbi Yanglem Ningol Mangi Devi was born on 17th day of the month of Sajibu in the year 1931 at Yanglem family of Toubul Village.
She was the daughter of Yanglem Mohan Singh and Langpoklakpam Ningol Yanglem Ongbi Shija Devi.
Mangi Devi learned music from her father and uncles when she was only a kid of 7 years.
She acted as Bishnupriya in Gouralila when she was only 7 years old.
Her first Nat Sankritan teacher was Oja Meisnam Asangbi Devi from Thanga, now living at Kongba Keithel.
Later she learned Sankritan from famous gurus like Oja Kalidaman, Gulapi and Natum.
Sanakhya Khedasana awarded him with a gold medal in a Khubak Eshei competition and later in a Bashok competition, Mangi Devi won a gold medal.
She is an artist of All India Radio.
She has been teaching ‘Dhumen’ and Khubak eshei to people of her locality.
She has taught songs to Women pala of Durga puja and Holi groups and got the blessings to perform in Shri Shri Govinda Mandap.
Mangi Devi led many dancing troupes to perform at Nabadwip, Brindavan and Radhakunda and also sets up her own Holi pala named as Rasheshori Pala and accorded with Jaipatra two times.
In recognition of her contribution in the field of Nat Sankritan, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Imphal awarded her with Sangeetbhusan(Sankritan) on its 83rd Annual Meeting.
