The song of the speech-impaired
K. Radhakumar *
The blind man
Without a white stick -
He closes his eyes
For he does not like to see
What lies before him:
A dead body
Lying in a pool of blood.
The place is littered with bloody torsos
Twisted arms and legs, shoes and purses
Torn pieces of clothes and broken wrist watches.
A blue vanity case is also seen.
The image of a wild animal
Dismembering its prey
Comes to his mind -
It was broadcast in the Animal World channel.
All this work is done
To get the beautiful country dismembered
By an organization
Which claims responsibility for the bombing
By SMSing the media houses.
Though he was bom deaf
He puts his hands over his ears
Lest he hears the cries
Of the dying and the dead
Of a car bomb explosion
In the heart of the city -
That is more than flesh and blood can stand.
The two friends
A partially sighted person
And a person hard of hearing -
They go hand in hand
In search of white dove
Cooing deep inside the scarlet woods.
Coo, just look at them!
