The Paucity of Gratitude
Potshangbam Nyaydhar *
As if sheep though
Herded we the volunteers,
At the theatre Open Air,
For "Generax"-the fashion show
10th April when the day was young
On our foreheads the Sun sits,
We ran dry arranging the gate,
For "Generax" soon to go "live",
The dusk descends,
The volunteers scattered,
To their respective assign tasks,
Some at entrances,
To check the donors, invitees and what not,
Interring in pairs,
Some local models and some celebrities,
Managed the spectators of 3000
By nine, the volunteers
Until the end,
Withered and bent with exhaustion,
With applauses the pageant ended,
But, the volunteers went unnoticed,
With insults thrown at their faces,
Bombarded with cruel words and much more,
Making adrenaline zipping and pumping,
Swore the young volunteers
Never again to volunteer,
The height of ingratitude
They did learn that man is capable,
The organizers' paucity of human sense,
With the acknowledgement which never came,
For other's sacrifice, hard works and so on.
