"The Naga Situation The Future of Peace and Talks" :: Discussion at Jamia
-Date : 16 November, 2012 -
Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi
The Centre for North East Studies and Research Policy at Jamia cordially invites you to the first of its Research Seminar Series by young scholars on Issues and Challenges before the North East. Pertinently, the theme of the first seminar is ‘The Naga Situation: The Future of Peace and Talks’, on 16 November, 2012, from 03:30 pm onwards, at Mir Anis Hall (Administrative Block), Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Speculations are doing the round that the settlement to the Naga political problem is near. However, the lack of official and formal clarity by either side on the issue and the silence of information as published/broadcast in the media have create both concern and confusion among the Nagas as well as in the states of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Old suspicions continue to run deep.
We regard it important therefore to hold a discussion among scholars of and from the region on the issue so that an informed debate emerges and key concerns from all sides are addressed. We are requesting young scholars from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi University and Jawaharlal Nehru University to share their perceptions and look forward to a lively discussion.
We shall keep you informed on the seminars which we shall try and hold on a monthly basis. We would eventually publish the proceedings in monographs.
With regards and good wishes,
K. Kokho
