The Magic Ring
Jodha Chandra Sanasam *
It came to me on its own
as if, it had walked on all along
unseen slow steady and stealthy
I attained, thus,
the fulfillment of a lifetime!
I saw it in my own palm!
The magic ring! Its spell-working!
that begets you anything you desire.
I hadn't seen it even once before
yet I also partook
among them in their search for it;
many Farhads turned out to dig out the mountain
rocky but bushy of its terrain
that the spring water divine
would run down to the valley
which the ring could have done easy.
I rode also a horse
took arms swords spears
taking parts in the army
to hunt this ring wizardly
groping around everything
on the way to reveal the ring enchanting.
Many others hunted this ring
in large laboratory halls antiseptic
some through computer keys
in large rooms secluded
on floors tiled, quiet and alone.
I found this magic ring
in the mud whipped up
beneath layers of stench of waste
shrouded in the foul breath of animosity.
It was not from King Solomon's mine,
not from Heaven's Garden of Amravati either,
not from amongst King Kubera's golden champaks,
not from the tips of AK 47.
The site where I found it hiding
turned out to be the sacred space
of my inner depth
where the air breezed healthy
and where happiness gentility
clustered in genuine.
Yes, I will reveal it to all
I know they will say mocking at me
what I found is not what they hunted for
but I know what it is
it is the ring, the spell worker
that begets you what you desire.
It came to me on its own
as if, it had walked on all along
unseen slow steady and stealthy
I attained, thus,
the fulfillment of a lifetime!
I saw it in my own palm!
The magic ring! Its spell-working!
that begets you anything you desire.
