The Lamp Right up My Street
K Radhakumar *
What a noisy traffic!
There is a lot of traffic
On this road.
I do not know
Why the road ahead is crowded.
I do not know
Why I have been here
And also why I have to take this road.
It allows unlimited travel.
A long way it is
I wonder if I will make it in time.
There is no going back.
No going back.
Born I was on a certain day,
Die I will on a certain day
And I will continue working up
Until my death.
Don't stop – drive on!
Put your shoulder to the wheel.
I need to think big,
I need to think positive.
I manoeuvre for position
And try not to get stuck in traffic.
If it is not illegal
I will honk my horn as I drive past.
