The Dead Mother
- Part 6 -
By Dr. Konsam Suken Singh *
Ton suddenly wakes up from his sleep with profuse sweating all over his body with a sudden loud call to his mom – " MOM .!!!!!!"
On his loud call, his wife also suddenly gets up from her deep sleep surprisingly and wonders what happens to her husband. Before, she can ask anything to him, Ton gets up from his bed suddenly and rushes to his mom's room.
The door is partially opened from inside as usual,...but today Ton can sense a different atmosphere.
Everything seems to be so silent. The room light is off and the room is in total dark silence except for the few bright rays of moonlight that passes in from outside through the half opened windows. The window curtains are standstill though cold breezes blow outside every now and then over the dark silent trees. The brightest moon ever which played hide and seek in between the dark silvery clouds some time back also takes the form of total paralysis.....and to the most ever fear of Ton, the up and down movements of the thick blanket over his mother's body (as she breathes deeply during her sound sleep) is no more....and there was total silence in the room,..not even a few occasional snoring sound of her mother's sleep as was usually heard.
With the greatest fear and apprehension ever in his mind and heart, Ton slowly widens the partially opened door of his mother's bedroom and walks towards his mother's bed. There, Ton sees everything silent and standstill except for a BIG DROP OF TEAR which is trickling down slowly from his mother's left eye. Without a single word and with tearful eyes, Ton collects the BIG DROP OF TEAR from his mother's eye and put on his head,..then he buries his face on his mom's standstill body on the bed with now tears flowing out of his eyes like a flooded river of eternity continuously. With his face still burying on his mother's standstill body, he whispers to himself in low vibrant voice,
Ton – " Thank you mom for being my mom and for being so kind and loving to me for these whole years. Please be my mom in every birth that I take; ...please don't leave me alone in any birth that I take. Remember, you said 'we came to go',..but now you also please remember my words, 'you are going to come back to me again'. Please rest in Peace in Heaven. I love you always."

Authors' Note:
" We often come across and read about many 'science fictions' which blends science with human beings and thereby reproducing an imaginable possibility to the human lives. This short story is not a science fiction in its real sense but a sort of something in that line - a 'spiritual fiction', which connects the Spirits of our Souls and our human lives. It is just an imaginary theme from the thoughts of the writer, nothing more than that."
