The Chirp of a Sparrow
K. Radhakumar *
A bird
Hit by a slingshot
Fatally wounded
And about to die
Wonders what life is.
Its eyes are lovely
And blood oozes out of its black beak.
Its last chirp finds no echo
In the heart of the vast world.
The poet in me wonders about
Our place in the cosmos.
